We provide both mediation and litigation expertise. We have extensive experience (both in and out of Court) in handling cases involving pre- and post-marital agreements, alimony, child support, and equitable distribution, including the valuation of businesses and professional practices. We also understand that, when parents divorce, the most important issue is the children. We are experienced in advocating for our clients with respect to child custody issues.

Our experience begins with Robert A. Ponton, Jr., who started our firm’s Family Law section in 1980. Robert is a Board Certified Family Law Specialist who has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America (2008-2011). Robert is also a fellow in the North Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, an exclusive national organization with 27 members in North Carolina. Robert was recognized as a North Carolina Top 100 lawyer in 2010. In addition, four attorneys in our Family Law practice area are North Carolina Board Certified Specialists in Family Law, a designation shared by just 160 attorneys in the state.
